Dr. Vinay Khetia (Abu Sumayya) is an author who has a Ph.D in Religious Studies from McMaster University, Canada.He reverted to Islam in 2002. He has lectured at Harvard, Oxford University, University of Toronto, University of Kufa and other prestigious institutions.

He has studied in various Islamic seminaries in Najaf, Syria, and London. He served Assadiq Islamic School (with 850 students) in Toronto from.2013 to 2022 in various roles including serving as director of religious affairs.

He is currently the academic director of the Shia Research Institute at the University of Toronto where he works within academia and the community.
